Quiz Extensions


Extend Time on All Quizzes in Webcourses@UCF

These instructions will show you how to extend time for all timed quizzes in Webcourses@UCF. This tool will only apply extra time to existing quizzes only. If another quiz is added, the process must be repeated.

Ensure that your quiz allows enough time for students with quiz extensions to finish their quiz.

Quiz extensions extend the time limit on a quiz. However, quiz extensions do not automatically extend the availability dates of the quiz. Please ensure that the availability dates of the quiz, between the “available from” date and the “until date,” allow sufficient time for students who have been given a quiz extension to make use of their total allotted time.

Follow these instructions on how to assign a quiz to an individual student to give the students with an extension an extended availability window for the quiz.

If You Use Honorlock for Proctored Exams

*Please note: if you use the Quiz Extensions tool to give a student extra time, please do this BEFORE enabling Honorlock. If Honorlock is already enabled and you need to add a Quiz Extension, please Disable and then re-Enable Honorlock to ensure those students have the time they need.

Overwriting Quiz Extensions

Using this tool will overwrite any existing quiz extensions.

  1. Click the Quiz Extensions tab in the course navigation menu.

    If it does not appear, take the following steps to add it to the Course Menu.

    1. Click on the Settings tab in the course navigation menu.
    2. Click on the Navigation tab.
    3. Drag and drop the Quiz Extensions link to the active section at the top of the page.
    4. Click the Save button.
  2. Select the students from the left hand menu or use the Filter box to quickly find a student.
  3. Click the Submit button.
  4. Use the dropdown menu to select how much extra time the selected students will receive.
    • If the student is receiving a time extension due to accommodations, please refer to the letter from Student Accessibility Services for how much time to add.
    • A custom amount of time can be added as a percentage e.g. (2.5x represents 250%)

  5. Click the Submit button.
  6. Please stay on the page while the tool is processing.
  7. A list will be generated of how much extra time was added to each quiz.

Quizzes Without Time Limits

Quizzes without time limits are skipped when using the Quiz Extensions tools. No extra time will be added to quizzes without time limits.
