Course Delivery Modalities
New Modality Definitions Through Spring 2010:
2-Way Interactive TV (T) — courses delivered via live two-way interactive television to selected locations. Class meetings are at a remote site from the instructor.
Face To Face Instruction (P) — courses have required classroom attendance and meet on a scheduled and regular basis. Students may encounter internet and/or computer use requirements in these classes.
Face to Face/ITV-Origination (L) — live courses captured via two-way interactive television for synchronous delivery to selected locations. Class meetings are at the origination site with the instructor.
Face to Face/Video Streaming Origination (LV) — live class meetings are recorded for subsequent video streaming over the Web.
ITV /Reduced Seat Time (MT) — an M class with class meetings conducted via 2-way interactive television. Web activity will substitute for some ITV content. Class meetings are at a remote site from the instructor.
Live Origination/Reduced Seat Time (ML) — the live section of an MT class, which may interact live with other sites via 2-way television. Class meetings are at the origination site with the instructor.
Mixed Mode/Reduced Seat Time (M) — courses include both required classroom attendance and online instruction. All M classes have substantial activity conducted over the Web, which will substitute for some classroom meetings.
Video Streaming/ Reduced Seat Time (RV) — classroom-based content is available over the Web via streaming video and classroom attendance is not required. Other required activities that substitute for video instruction may include any of the following elements: Web activity, in-person or proctored examinations, and labs. See course notes for details..
Video Streaming (V) — courses delivered over the Web via streaming digital video.
World Wide Web (W) — courses conducted fully via Web-based instruction and collaboration. Courses may require proctored examinations, and may include opportunities for face-to-face orientations, but there will be no class attendance requirements.
